About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Developer with strong expertise in Java and Python to join our collaborative, remote-first team. In this role, you will play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining backend systems for high-performance applications. You’ll focus on scalable architecture, backend services, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and advanced problem-solving, leveraging technologies like Spring Boot, Hibernate, Django, Flask, FastAPI, Docker, and AWS.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of scalable back-end services using Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate) and Python (Django, Flask, or FastAPI).

• Design and implement system architecture and key backend components.

• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs and third-party services.

• Manage infrastructure and deployments using AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Optimize backend application performance, security, and scalability.

• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams.

• Participate in and lead code reviews, championing best practices.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent practical experience.

• 4+ years of industrial work experience in backend development roles.

• Proven track record of being a main contributor on complex, production-grade projects.

• Strong proficiency in Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate) and Python (Django, Flask, FastAPI).

• Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and Docker, plus at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Solid understanding of infrastructure tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration (Kubernetes a plus).

• Strong grasp of system design and software architecture principles.

• Experience working with RESTful APIs and version control systems like Git.

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

• English fluency (written and verbal).

Nice to Have

• Previous experience working in the fintech, payments, or high-transaction systems industry.

• Exposure to DevOps practices, monitoring, and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.).

• Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
